Some Random Thoughts for people creating 2009 Mock Drafts:
Laurinitas is a beast. He won the Nagurski (DPOY for college) as a sophomore! Anyhow, with his speed, he seems to be better as a Cover-2 MIKE than a 3-4 ILB.
Greg Middleton (Indiana) is a 4-3 end. NOT a 3-4 OLB.
Victor Harris (VTech) and Alphonso Smith (Wake) are some Cover-2 corners this year.. I can't find any more, and it seems that last year had a bunch of good cover-2 guys (Talib, Cason, Flowers).
Free safety isn't that deep this year.. You have Moore, then maybe Rolle (He's more of a SS), and then Derek Pegues (Miss. St) and then... Nobody? Last year, K Phillips, Q Demps, T DeCoud, DaJuan Morgan were all 2nd round prospects. This year, maybe Pegues will last that far, and then there is nobody.
Overall, there seem to be a lot of juniors and sophomores atop the draft boards at many positions (QB, RB amongst them).
Atlanta doesn't really need a wide receiver, does it? It has Roddy White, Laurent Robinson, and Harry Douglas already, and they will be 5th, 3rd, and 2nd -year receivers in 2009. Give Atlanta RG, RT, NT, and overall defensive depth.
Houston needs a safety that can cover. William Moore is the best at that this year, but he will probably be gone before the Texans pick. Other needs include a defensive end that can beat single-teams opposite Mario Williams, Strongside linebacker if Colvin and Diles don't work out, a star RB that can carry the load by himself in a ZBS (LeSean McCoy, anyone?), a wide receiver that can catch well enough to make teams regret doubling Andre Johnson, a punter that can actually punt longer than 40 yards consistently, and more depth at OLine, WLB, UT, and Kick-Returner.
Tampa Bay needs many wide receivers, depending on Hilliard's age and how well Clayton works this year. They need a tall fast guy, and tall redzone target, and 2 slot receivers.. They also need depth at DT and DE, and better pass-blockers at either Tackle spot. Petitgout is old, and Penn isn't elite. And you can't win playoffs (esp. against Giants) if you don't have and elite LT.
Arizona needs safety depth, receiver depth, maybe punter, maybe dime-back, LB depth (esp. if they don't resign Dansby), and DE depth (They run a 5-2/3-4 hybrid).
Washington needs UT, LE, secondary depth, MLB, and OLine depth.
New England needs wide receivers, corners, and maybe 3-4 DE (they have free agents at that spot).
Too late at night, post laterz.
